When the Zap Attack is chosen, once the ball is snapped the player-controlled defender is surrounded by a powerful electrical field. Any offensive player that touches the electrified player is zapped for serious damage and stunned. If the Zap Attack reaches the ball carrier, even if the attack is not enough to kill, it will force a Fumble. This is an excellent opportunity to snatch the ball and run it up the field while you're still electrified. If the offense recovers the ball, as long as you still have the Zap Attack, you can try to force another Fumble.
The Zap Attack has a time limit and is transferable. Selecting another player to transfer the Zap Attack to that player. Once the effect wears off, the defender can be dealt with normally. If you are on offense and are up against the Zap Attack, the best countermeasure is to avoid contact and end the play however you can, such as throwing the ball out of bounds. Otherwise, you risk getting stripped of the ball and unable to tackle the ball carrier until the Zap Attack ends.
Two of the best counters of this Dirty Trick are Warp Speed and Bombs Away. While Warp Speed can equal a touchdown and evading the defense, Bombs Away can take out a defending player.
This Dirty Trick shares the same name as the third episode of Mighty Ducks: The Animated Series.
