Chainsaw massacre

Chainsaw Massacre is one of the Dirty Tricks the players can use in Mutant Football League.

Get your motor running, it's chainsaw time!
~ Grim Blitzrow

Abilities[ | ]

Chainsaw Massacre sets the offense up to run a toss play to the running back. Upon receiving the ball, the running back brandishes a chainsaw he wields for a limited time, which he swings by spinning. The runner deals massive damage to any defender he cuts into and downs them for the rest of the play (assuming they don't die). This Dirty trick is good for clearing easier paths to the end zone since hacked defenders can't get back up.

Counterplay[ | ]

Well-timed tackles can bring down the ball carrier or chip away at his health while avoiding the chainsaw. Chipping his health while he stays up leaves him more vulnerable to dying and creating a turnover opportunity. Criminal Aliens, as well as the Galaxy Chaos, and Dirty Tricks like Berserk, Ginormous and Zap Attack counter this extremely well with dealing damage to the ballcarrier and forcing a fumble respectively.

Penalties[ | ]

There are no penalties for using Chainsaw Massacre.

Manual[ | ]

Description from the Official Game Manual:
This is a run play. Once the ball is pitched, the ball carrier pulls out a chainsaw, which can inflict maximum damage on the defense. The chainsaw lasts for limited amount of time, so it’s best to not dawdle and just attack quickly. There is a cool down between chainsaw attacks.

A button (Xbox One) or cross button (PS4) activates a chainsaw attack move. Chainsaw attacks can also be used during late hits.

Trivia[ | ]

  • This Dirty Trick is a reference to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, a famous horror movie (since redone several times) which featured Leatherface, a killer wielding a chainsaw. From this inspired a meme about inflicting grievous bodily harm with chainsaws which continues to this day. Leatherface himself would become a guest character in Mortal Kombat X.
    • Brickhead Mulligan mentions a statue of him carving Paul Bunyan, an American folklore character, being made.
